ADVANCEMENT CAMP 2008

The Advancement Camps held at Camp Twin Echo are an opportunity to participate in an unequaled learning and leadership experience in a traditional Boy Scout Camp outdoor setting. Scouts are placed in a provisional Troop and Patrol, elect their own leadership and attend classes in a merit badge grouping of their choice

 

 

  • Learn from local experts the selected merit badges.
  • Go on exciting field trips to a local airport, Game Commission headquarter and others.
  • Take part in the ideal pagrol and troop experience
  • Bring a buddy or come by yourself
  • Make new friends with Scouts who share your interests

 Get up close and personal with an airplane, learn the forces of flight, how planes navigate and what pilots need to know about weather to stay safe.  Learn how to operate a radio, survive in the wilderness adn build a "lean-to".  Be prepared to emergency situations by having the skills of First Aid merit badge.  The field trip will be to the flight line of an airport to discuss aircraft with pilots.

Be a Citizen of the World! Learn how to out-smart fish and be a Fly Fisherman, protect our environment, and conserve our natural resources. Experience mammals in a new way and find out how high strength composites are being used to save our natural resources. The field trip will be to a special presentation by the Pennsylvannia Game Commission.

Scouts can also earn the World Conservation Award this week by completing the required merit badges.
