CUB SCOUTS - IT'S TIME TO "CELEBRATE" DAY CAMP!

 2008 DAY CAMP - CELEBRATIONS!

Day camp is an organized one- to five-day program for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts. Day camp is conducted as a council and district event under certified leadership with participating pack leadership. Day camps are located on council camps, local parks, and other approved council location in accordance with BSA National standards. Day camps do not include any overnight activities as part of the Day camp program.

Approval to conduct a day camp is granted by the council. Certification of the day camp director and program director is provided through the National Camping School. All day camps shall be conducted in accordance with established standards as given in National Standards for Local Council Accreditation of Cub Scout/Webelos Scout Day Camps, No. 13-108.

Program Features
Your district will have it’s own action filled activities including: Nature hikes, Sports, Games, Crafts, Fitness, Campcraft, Group Features, Shooting Sports such as Archery and BB , Cookouts, and Special Webelos Programs.   Each summer, your council offers an exciting, fun-filled, and educational one week day camp experience. They are offered in various districts of our council by a talented and trained group of Scouting volunteers directed by a certified BSA field executive.

Adult Leadership
Packs must provide at least two leaders each day for each den. A den is comprised of 4 to 8 Scouts. One leader must be at least 21 years of age, accompanies the den through daily activities and is responsible for the den’s supervision and discipline. The second adult must be at least 18 years of age. There is no charge for leaders who attend day camp.

Daily Schedule

The basic day camp schedule runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Registration begins each day at 8:30 a.m. Check with your district Day Camp Director for times specific to your day camp.  Programs operate rain or shine.

Registration
The first step is up to your Pack committee. They set the plans to attend as a group with your leaders. Parents should look for the “Parent Guide to Summer Camp Programs” for details. The Pack should look for the Pack registration kit and registration form.  All registered Cub scouts may attend any of the following day camps. Siblings are allowed if a “Tot-lot” is provided and only with the districts leadership approval.

Cost
The basic cost for a Cub Scout to attend Day Camp is only $70 for the whole week!  It includes a Day Camp T-shirt, patch, crafts, and supplies.  However, if your Pack registers early, you can take advantage of discounted rates as follows:

 DUE DATE  FEE  SAVE
Feb. 4 - March 31   $60  $10.00
 April 1 - May 19  $65  $ 5.00
 May 19 or later  $70
NOTE:  Any boy that joins Cub Scouting after March 1, 2008 may go to Day Camp for the $60 rate.

REFUND POLICY
Refunds will be made only upon written request to Greater Pittsburgh Council, only to the Pack and only if the cancellation is made in writing at least TWO WEEKS before Day Camp begins. Fees are transferable between individual boys within the Dens or Pack. Leaders should notify their Pack Day Camp Leader of any changes.

TELL YOUR PACK YOU WANT TO JOIN IN OUR "CELEBRATIONS" AT DAY CAMP 2008!  Make sure to have your Pack register early so that you can get your shirts in the right sizes and ahead of time!
