Now is the time to schedule you Family Friends of Scouting presentation. Family Friends of Scouting is the one opportunity that families have during the year to directly support the operation of the General Greene District and the Greater Pittsburgh Council.
All packs, troops and crews are requested to select a date during the months of January-March where we can make a presentation for Family Friends of Scouting. The presentation typically takes about 10-15 minutes of your Blue and Gold, Court of Honor or other well attended parent meeting. Dates may be scheduled through Amanda Olear at 724-966-9034 or at the Roundtables. Scout’s Honor Articles
Each issue of Scout's Honor is an opportunity for us to showcase events and activities in Greene County. Be sure to foward any items that you would like to have sumitted to our publicity chair, Melodee Hursey at kmhursey@alltel.net or District Executive, Michael Maxwell at Michael.Maxwell@Scouting.org. You can also reach Rob at 412-325-7977. |

MEMBERSHIP ROUNDUPS
Scouting is a yearlong program. Many Scouts attended camps this past year. Many boys will decide to attend camp next year after hearing about all the fun these scouts had at camp. Your District Membership chair, Erin McCrea, will be promoting the Scouting program over Greene County. She will be happy to promote your Scouting unit to parents in the county. We try to be represented at all activities throughout the county. In addition, we need to be visiting the schools to speak to the boys about joining your scouting packs and troops. The best way to get them interested in joining your pack, troop or crew is to provide them with a calendar of events planned for your unit. Contact your District Membership chair, Erin McCrea, at 724-627-3571 or Michael Maxwell, at 412-325-7977 to schedule school visits and sign-up nights for your units.
SCOUTING ACTIVITIES
The district is currently planning to attend the Ski and Snowboard Day at Mystic Mountain. The event will be held on February 23 and 24. Cost is $25 per person. Those who prepay can purchase a hot lunch and a patch for an additional $6. DISTRICT HOLIDAY PARTY
Thanks go out to Wanda Cole and Lee Ann Flenniken for another great Christmas Party. The food was great once again thanks to the efforts of the culinary arts students at the Vo-Tec. ROUNDTABLE
Roundtable is a monthly meeting open to all Scout leaders. This includes all committee members, den leaders, assistant leaders and parents. It is also open to anyone interested in the Scouting program in our local community. It is not just a coincidence that units that attend roundtable and participate in district activities are vibrant and healthy. Everyone wants to be part of a winning team and scouting is no exception. Roundtable attendance is a way to get resources, training and information. It is also a great way to promote your own activities.
Please remember to make sure that your unit is represented at every roundtable. Postcards are being sent each month as reminders to attend. Roundtable is always held at the First Baptist Church in Waynesburg at 7:00 p.m. There is always a program focused on particular issues facing packs, troops and crews provided by our two Roundtable commissioners. Contact our District Commissioner Amanda O’Lear to suggest topics that you would like to have presented at roundtable.
