WELCOME, Dan Lindh!

Steel City District is thrilled to welcome our new District Director Dan Lindh!  Dan grew up in Scouting in our area, and is joining us after gaining experience in Connecticut and the French Creek Council.  Come to Roundtable and get to know Dan!

POPCORN! Get your Popcorn!
Thanks to all of the Steel City Units that participated in this year's Trail's End popcorn sale!  Our District once again sold over $100,000 worth of popcorn to benefit our Scouts and our Units to provide quality programs!  Stay tuned for more details regarding our popcorn pickup information for Saturday November 15.  If you have ANY questions about popcorn, contact Steel City's Kernel Popcorn Kim Krapp at (412) 854-3626.

District Commissioner's Message
Remember the Scout Law - "A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."

Have you lived up to that today? We can't exclude anyone! Our District will continue to get stronger once we are "all working together" to deliver the promise! That goes for Packs and Troops and Crews, and leadership at all levels. "No one stands so tall as when they stoop down to help a child."

                            Dan Urban

 GET READY FOR RECHARTERING!
Your Unit Commissioner should have contacted your Unit regarding how to access the Online Rechartering System.  It's time to review your membership information and make sure that the Council information is up to date and accurate.

The goal for Steel City District is for our Units to have their online registration "paperwork" completed by December 1, or as soon as possible thereafter (don't forget to get all of your signatures).  It is recognized that for those Units selling popcorn, they may not have all of their money available for Dec. 1 - so the goal is for all rechartering payments (including the separate check for unit insurance) to be at Flag Plaza by December 12.

That way, if there are any questions, your Unit Commissioner and our new District Director can make sure that everything is in order before the Holiday rush.  Please contact your Unit Commissioner if you need help or have any questions.  Rechartering will also be discussed at Roundtable this month.

 ROUNDTABLE - 2nd Thursdays!

Steel City District Roundtable is scheduled for the ** SECOND ** Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Maxwell Drive in Whitehall. All registered adult Leaders are welcome and encouraged to come and learn about what is happening within the District, Council, and Scouting in general, to help your unit stay strong. All Youth Leaders are also invited to attend their own Roundtable, as well as all Order of the Arrow members, for the monthly Chapter meeting.

All Roundtable announcements MUST be provided to District Commissioner Dan Urban (chiefsnipe@comcast.net ) no later than 7 days prior to Roundtable. [You can also bring them to the District Committee Meeting] Then they can be published, and we can also schedule our time accordingly.[Please don't come up to the RT Commissioners at the beginning of the meeting asking to be added to the schedule]  Thanks!

THIS MONTH, YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING WILL BE OFFERED FOR ALL ADULT LEADERS.  If you have a Leader who has not had YPT in the last two years, encourage them to come to Roundtable, especially if they can't complete the online training.  Remember, YPT is required for all Tour Permits!

ROUNDTABLE COMMISSIONER CONTACTS:

                                           Evelyn Sykes 412-655-0113

Are you still Recruiting?

We hope you know that, although the tradition is for most boys to join a Pack or Troop may be in the Fall, it's never to late to welcome a new Scout to your Unit!  Be on the lookout for friends of your Scouts to become new members.  Make sure to get that paperwork in along with your rechartering!  We are getting closer to our goals!

Order of the Arrow (OA) Update

Please help get the word out to every youth OA member to come to our monthly Chapter meetings at the same time as Roundtable at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. We would like have an OA representative attend from every Troop in the district.
