 Roundtable
Roundtable is a monthly meeting open to all Scout leaders. This includes all committee members, den leaders, assistant leaders and parents. It is also open to anyone interested in the Scouting program in our local community. It is not just a coincidence that units that attend roundtable and participate in district activities are vibrant and healthy. Everyone wants to be part of a winning team and Scouting is no exception.
Roundtable attendance is a way to get resources, training, and information. It is also a great way to promote your own activities. Please remember to make sure that your unit is represented at every roundtable.
Roundtable is always held on the first Tuesday of the month at the First Presbyterian Church of Monongahela on 6th and Chess St. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Contact our District Commissioner Bob Brandl to suggest topics that you would like to have presented at roundtable. Hopefully we will see some new faces out and you will get to meet the wonderful people that make up our district. Keeping Prices Low
Our commitment to your sons is to try to keep the price of everything in scouting as low as we can. To do this, and to continue to provide the highest quality program possible, we need to raise over $125 for every scout in the Mon Valley. We raise this money, and tell everyone the story of our district and our council, during the annual Friends of Scouting presentation at your Pack or Troop. This year’s Friends of Scouting Family Chair is Jan Rice and we would like to get 100% participation with every unit signed up ASAP. Can we do it? Spring Camporee
The Spring Camporee will be held at Mingo Creek Park on May 16-18. This year will be a Civil War theme with local re-enactors helping with the program and demonstration. For more information please contact Terry Babington (412) 325-7972. BALOO
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) will be held on March 15th at Camp Anawanna. Registration and fee required. Please contact Terry Babington (412) 325-7972 about registration.
Pack Camping has come a long way and it is one of the strongest reasons boys join the Cub Scout program. For a Pack to go camping however there MUST be at least one registered leader on the outing that is BALOO trained. BALOO is a 7 hour indoor and outdoor training which helps with understanding the BSA progressive camping program. The training reviews guidelines established by the Boy Scouts of America and the Greater Pittsburgh Council to help us understand the value of the outdoor program.
