 It's That Recharter Time!

It is recharter time and now is the opportunity to get everything done early! Here is your rechartering log-in code. All charters will be done via the online rechartering system this year. It’s very important for your kids that everything is turned in correctly and before the deadline.

Please also make a concerted effort to ensure that your rosters are accurate with regard to your leaders and committee members. Any adult currently serving in your unit who either has never been registered or has changed positions requires a new application signed by both your unit committee chair and your chartered organization representative approving them as a leader in your unit. For the youth, please don’t drop a youth off of your unit charter without making contact with the family to be sure that they are no longer interested in Scouting. If they do choose to be inactive, please ask why and pass that along so that we can work with you to find solutions for their challenge.

If someone from your unit cannot attend one of these nights to turn-in your completed recharter packet, please call your Unit Commissioner or District Director Jake Kraus (412-325-7963 or 248-563-7731), to set a time for one of them to pick-up your charter and review it with you.

Do not mail or deliver your completed charter to Flag Plaza. This will make it more difficult for your charter to be reviewed and have any corrections made if necessary. To help you through the recharter process, review this checklist for all of the items that go into correctly completing a charter.

 Family Friends of Scouting

So what exactly is FOS? FOS stands for Friends of Scouting; this is one of the annual fundraising campaigns held within the council. In this program, we ask that every family make an investment in the Scouting program. Your partnership with Scouting assures that there will always be opportunities for youth to develop strong personal values, self-worth, new skills, and respect for others. Every dollar you invest helps preserve Scouting as a significant youth organization in our communities. Friends of Scouting donations help keep camps affordable and maintained, programs current, leaders trained, and communication flowing just to name a few of the dividends your investments yield. Make sure that you get your unit signed up for your Family Friends of Scouting Presentation. It would be preferred to hold your unit presentation at your annual Blue & Gold Banquet or Spring Court of Honor. We would like to have all of the presentations completed by the end of March. Your unit will be contacted to schedule your presentation if it has not already done so. You can also contact Pete Bronder either at pete@cmu.edu or via the online form on Survey Monkey.
