Drive For Five Program:

Your unit must inform Dave Maudie (412)325-7964 of the date of your sign-up/open house night before August 15, 2008 to be eligible. Your sign-up/open house program needs to fall between the dates of September 7 thru 20. Don't wait for the Japeechen District kick-off. That will be too late to participate.

Cub Scout Drive for Five:

If your unit achieved Drive for five last year, you must recruit 4 Cub Scouts over your charter number for last year as of October 2007.

If your unit did not achieve Drive for five last year, you must recruit 8 Cub Scouts over your charter number for last year as of October 2007.

Boy Scout Drive for Five:

If your unit achieved Drive for five last year, you must recruit 4 Boy Scouts over your charter number for last year as of October 2007.

You unit must report the application and monies to Flag Plaza within 24 hours of the sign-up night that you informed the District Executive about before August 15, 2008. If you complete the entire process and achieve those goals,

  1. Your Cub Pack will receive a Pinewood Derby car for each registered Cub Scout in your Pack.

District Key Three

Chairman:         Jim Peduto
Commissioner: Bill Ammer
District Director: Dave Maudie

Our Mission Statement: The Japeechen District will provide venues and activities within the Scouting program to the youth we serve by preserving moral and ethical choices through a trained and enthusiastic leadership.

To all Japeechen District Scouters:

It's time for the Fall Roundup and the kickoff to the 2008-2009 Scouting season. The fall campaign started on June 15 at the Pittsburgh Steelers Training facility. The evening focused on how to make the best use of a sign-up/open house evening. This year's incentive Drive for Five plan was also discussed.

Our Japeechen District fall roundup/kickoff meeting will take place on August 20, 2008 at Camp Guyasuta. We will also conduct a District Committee meeting to finalize arrangements for the Picnic Roundtable on September 3, 2008.

Our District Executive has begun making arrangements with schools to conduct boy talks. Let's not let him go into a school alone. Please work with Dave to represent Scouting and recruit for the program. Your participation in the Boy talk presentation will only give more impact to the recruiting process.

Leader and Unit Recognition!
Congratulations to Silver Beaver recipient, Jack Delk and Japeechen District Award of Merit recipient, Jamie Uber. They were both recognized at the Japeechen District Leader Recognition Dinner held April 27 the the McGinnis Center in beautiful Camp Twin Echo. Many thanks to all of the leaders, spouses and family members who came to honor our outstanding units and volunteers. Jim Peduto was introduced as the new District Chairman for 2008-2009. Best Wishes, Jim!
