Wood Badge, the premiere adult leadership training course offered by Boy Scouts of America, will be held this year on August 27, 28, and 29 and October 8, 9, and 10 at Camp Twin Echo. As long as you have completed the training required of your position in Scouting, you are eligible and encouraged to attend. Japeechen’s own, Jim Rozycki, is this year’s Course Director and additional information is available via this link- http://www.gpc-bsa.org/programs/training/whatiswoodbadge.asp or by talking with any previous course participant.
Japeechen District has one (1) scholarship available for anyone attending from our district. The scholarship will pay for the course fees over and above the $50.00 deposit required for application ($145.00 value). If you want to be considered for the scholarship, you need to 1) fill out the course application and forward it and the $50.00 deposit check to Greater Pittsburgh Council and 2) contact me with a brief explanation of your background and why our money will be well spent. The scholarship requires an immediate commitment in order to be considered.
We will announce the successful Wood Badge Participant at the February Roundtable on February 3, 2010.
Unit Leaders – please forward this note to all of the adults in your units and anyone else that may be interested in attending (eligible) from our district. If we don’t get the word out to our leaders, we will not award the scholarship. Thanks for your help.
Yours In Scouting,
Mark Eberhardt
