District Commissioner's Message Remember the Scout Law - "A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."
Have you lived up to that today? We can't exclude anyone! Our District will continue to get stronger once we are "all working together" to deliver the promise! That goes for Packs and Troops and Crews, and leadership at all levels. "No one stands so tall as when they stoop down to help a child."

412-965-6169 District Director: John Jones 412-325-7935

GET READY FOR RECRUITING! The Membership Committee is getting ready to help your Unit with recruiting more Scouts this year! But we need your help:
-
IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, PLEASE TURN IN YOUR JOINING NIGHT DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATIONS. Don't forget to include the contact information . Note that this year, GPC will be having a media blitz from Sept. 7 through Sept. 20. Also, you may want to check with your schools to see if you can host a joining night right at the school, or arrange for a Boy Talk! We need this information as soon as possible, so that the flyers can be drafted and approved for distribution in time for your Joining Night!
If you have any questions, please contact Steel City Membership Committee Chair Bill Kraycar at 412-860-6530.
ROUNDTABLE - note the change!
Steel City District Roundtable is NOW scheduled for the ** SECOND ** Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Maxwell Drive in Whitehall. All registered adult Leaders are welcome and encouraged to come and learn about what is happening within the District, Council, and Scouting in general, to help your unit stay strong. All Youth Leaders are also invited to attend their own Roundtable, as well as all Order of the Arrow members, for the monthly Chapter meeting.
All Roundtable announcements MUST be provided to District Commissioner Dan Urban (chiefsnipe@comcast.net ) no later than 7 days prior to Roundtable. [You can also bring them to the District Committee Meeting] Then they can be published, and we can also schedule our time accordingly. Thanks!
ROUNDTABLE COMMISSIONER CONTACTS:
Steel City Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner - Evelyn Sykes 412-655-0113

Heroes of the Valley!
Congratulations to Doug Hartman (T4) and Ed Ferchak (T15) on being named to the first "Heroes of the Valley" by Borough of Munhall! They are being recognized for their commitment to the youth and the time and financial support they have given to the Steel Valley area. They will be honored at a reception to be held at the Munhall Borough Community Room at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 18. Fellow Scouters are encouraged to attend the reception, but you need to let them know by the Corn Boil on August 28.

Order of the Arrow (OA) Update
Please help get the word out to every youth OA member to come to our monthly Chapter meetings at the same time as Roundtable at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. We would like have an OA representative attend from every Troop in the district.
