Register for the 12 Points Bike Ride!
A special event for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venture Crews, and Family Members!
Sunday, June 1 • 1:30pm - 8:00pm
Ride 7 miles visiting parks and religious institutions in Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, Shadyside, and North Oakland.

Starting Location: Beth Shalom Synagogue 5915 Beacon Street (corner Beacon and Shady) Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh PA

Transportation will be provided for leaders to retrieve cars from Squirrel Hill at the end of the event.
While there are a few small hills along the route, the majority of the ride is down hill or level. |
The 12-Points Bike Ride lets Scout youth and their families learn more about the meaning of Scout law while gaining a deeper appreciation of different religious faiths. The Ride is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venture Crews, and their families.
A minimum of 2 leaders per unit are required. Youth and adults must have their own bikes with gears, proper fitting helmets and bike locks. All Scouts and Scouters must wear a Class “A“ or ”B“ uniform.
At each stop, a member of the Clergy will discuss one of the 12 points of Scout law, describe the basic theological tenets of their religion, and point out interesting architectural and historical aspects of their House of Worship. The ride will end with a picnic dinner.
The following Houses of Worship will be visited:
Judaism New Church Hindu* Roman Catholic Presbyterian Quaker Episcopal Lutheran Christian Scientist Islam Greek Orthodox Sikh**
* = This will be a discussion held at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Shadyside due to the fact that it is not possible to ride to the Hindu Temple.
** = This will be a discussion held prior to the Picnic Dinner in Schenley Park due to the fact that it is not possible to ride to the Gurdwara.
FREE SAFETY INSPECTION Tuesday 5/27 – Thursday 5/29 for Ride participants! Pittsburgh Pro Bicycles - CALL 412-567-4936 for more information. No safety inspections the day of the ride.
The cost of the ride is $13.50 if you register in advance. The cost includes a patch, snacks along the way, and a picnic dinner at the end of the ride.
