ROBERT “ALF” TUGGLE NAMED SCOUT EXECUTIVE, GREATER PITTSBURGH COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA

(February 8, 2005 – Pittsburgh, PA) Veteran Scouting leader Robert “Alf” Tuggle has been named Scout Executive, Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America, effective March 1, 2005.

Tuggle, 51, succeeds Robert J. Mazzuca, who has been named National Director, Development Group at the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Irving, Texas.

Tuggle has served since 1990 as Scout Executive of the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts in Richmond, VA. He previously held Scouting positions in Albany, Atlanta and Columbus, GA.

“We are delighted to welcome Alf to the Greater Pittsburgh Council,” said J. Brett Harvey, President & CEO, CONSOL Energy and Chairman of the GPC Board of Directors. “He is a strong leader who brings a wealth of experience in fund raising and innovation. Alf is an excellent fit for our organization.”

“Being selected as Scout Executive of the Greater Pittsburgh Council is an honor,” said Tuggle. “I look forward to being a part of the Pittsburgh community and one of America’s greatest Boy Scout councils.”

A graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University, Tuggle and his wife Marianne have two sons; Matt, an Eagle Scout, and Brad, who has attained the Life Rank.

The Greater Pittsburgh Council, Boy Scouts of America serves more than 48,000 youth each year across southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Washington and parts of Westmoreland and Fayette counties. The Council’s mission is to help instill values in young people by building the cornerstone of their character in ethics, morality and commitment, while preparing them for life’s challenges.
