Bowl-A-Thon

WHAT IS BOWL-A-THON 2008?

Bowl-A-Thon 2008 is a fund raising event. Each participant solicits pledges from sponsors who will make a donation based on the individual’s bowling score. It is also a FUN event with the participants being able to bowl and win prizes for their efforts.

HOW DO WE PARTICIPATE?

Bowl-A-Thon 2008 will take place in March. Your unit should sign up in January or February for a specific Bowl-A-Thon date. Each unit should contact the bowling establishment of your choice. Each participating unit must have a total of pledges averaging $25 per bowler in order to bowl free in the Bowl-A-Thon. At the Bowl-A-Thon each participant will bowl three games. Scores will be certified at the Bowl-A-Thon Bowling Center. Each participant has ten days to collect his or her pledges.

HOW AND WHEN DOES OUR UNIT GET ITS MONEY?

After the unit bowls, the bowlers collect pledges from their sponsors within ten days. After the pledges have been collected, you should remit the full value of your pledges to the Council. Your unit commission check will be sent to the person which you designate in ten days. You may have your commission monies placed on account at the Council Service Center. Be sure to send a receipt from the bowling alley if your unit is being reimbursed.

  • All packs are urged to consider using your commission to help Cub Scouts pay fees for Cub Day Camp, and Cub Scout Resident Camp or Webelos Camp in 2008.
  •  All troops are urged to consider using your commission to help support the cost of summer camp in 2008.

WHO GETS THE MONEY WE COLLECT?

About 50% of the money pays for the expenses of the event such as the lanes fees and the prizes.

25% is returned to the units in commissions.

25% will go toward the development of Scouting Programs for youth with disabilities in the Greater Pittsburgh Council.
