Stamp Collecting Merit Badge Workshop

The American Philatelic Society, America's premier stamp collecting organization, will be having a Stamp Show at David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The show will open August 6 and run through August 9. The show will include several hundred stamp exhibits, as well as dealers, and a large youth area run by the U.S. Postal Service.

We will be offering a Boy Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge course at the show. If there is enough interest, we will offer the program on both Friday, August 7, and again on Saturday, August 8.

The boys will receive a short tour of the show, including the over 100 stamp exhibits from all over the world. Following the tour, they will receive a full day seminar in order to complete the requirements for the Merit Badge. (There are two activities that they should do in advance in order to complete the remaining requirements in the time allotted.) In addition to a stamp collecting workbook, the boys will receive some of the tools used by stamp collectors, such as tongs, a magnifier, stock pages, and lots of free stamps.

There is no admission fee to the show; however, there is a $15.00 charge per boy for the workshop.
