Powder Horn is a training opportunity designed to expose Venturing and Boy Scout leaders to activities and resources necessary to operate a successful Venturing Ranger Award or Troop High Adventure program.
OUR VISION:
Provide an exciting adult leader outdoor skills course, unlike any other training course Scouters have ever experienced, which will enable Crew and Boy Scout leaders to plan and execute safe, interesting, and fun high adventure programs for their units.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This course is appropriate for: Venturing Leaders, Boy Scout Leaders, Commissioners, District and Council Leaders, Professional Staff and Camp Leaders.

The course will cover the Ranger Core Requirements as well as a majority of the Ranger Electives:

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
After completing this course the participants should have sufficient introductory information which will provide the following outcomes.
· Introduction to the skills necessary to operate their outdoor program and the various certifications necessary and how to obtain those certifications.
- Knowledge of how to identify local resources and consultants for high adventure activities.
- Detailed knowledge of the Ranger Award and associated Silver Award requirements.
- Knowledge of the health and safety requirements of the Boy Scouts of America as they apply to outdoor programs.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America as they apply to outdoor programs
COURSE SIZE:
This course is limited to 48 participants. Once the course is filled, participants will be given the option of being placed on the waiting list in case of cancellations.
RECOGNITION:
Upon successful completion of the Powder Horn course participants are awarded a certificate of completion and the Powder Horn Device, which is worn hanging from the left pocket of the uniform.
